Accomplishments
Some of the exceptional progress we have already made includes:
A breakthrough discovery that has led to several patent applications for new tests to diagnose lupus and monitor disease activity.
National and local scholarships awarded to trainees who have come to the Lupus Center from Williams College, Swarthmore College, Princeton University, Brown University, George Washington University, Penn State University, and the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Manzi's recognition as one of "The Best Doctors in America" and one of the "Best 100 Doctors in Pittsburgh."
Appointments to the National Advisory Committees of agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Genentech, Inc., Genelabs, Inc., Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Genzyme Corporation, the Alliance for Lupus Research, the Lupus Foundation of America, the American College of Rheumatology, the National Arthritis Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
