Patient Care
The Lupus Center of Excellence is located in Suite 1750 on the first floor of Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood. The Center provides world-class care to patients with lupus in a facility staffed by internationally renowned physicians and researchers who have access to the latest treatments and clinical trials.
The Center is the only one in the country to offer a comprehensive, multidisciplinary environment in which patients with lupus are offered access to all of their health care needs in one location.
Susan Manzi, MD, MPH, and Joseph Ahearn, MD, serve as Center co-directors. They — along with Fotios Koumpouras, MD; Amy Kao, MD, MPH; Kathleen McKinnon, DO; Jennifer Elliott, MD; and Kimberly Liang, MD — focus on providing high-quality patient care, and conducting clinical and translational research in lupus.
The Center also houses the Lupus Translational Research Program and Biomedical Informatics Center. The translational research conducted through the program seeks new discoveries and breakthroughs and brings them to the patient's bedside. The Biomedical Informatics Center supports the data management for the research component of the center.
Patient care office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
